How Our Process Works
Step 1 – Book Your Private Consultation
Every commission begins with a private consultation at our Mayfair studio, giving us the opportunity to understand your requirements before any measurements or design decisions are made. This initial meeting allows us to learn how and where you intend to wear your garment, along with your personal style preferences and any specific requirements.
Private appointments take place at our studio at 17 Hanover Square, Mayfair, London W1S 1BN. The initial consultation is complimentary and typically lasts around 30 minutes. If you decide to proceed, we'll arrange the next stage of the process, where we'll take your measurements and begin discussing fabrics and design details.
Step 2: Measurements & Understanding Your Requirements
Once you decide to proceed, we begin gathering the information needed to create clothing tailored specifically to you. This stage is about understanding not only your measurements, but also how you want your finished garment to look, feel and perform.
Detailed body measurements are taken while we discuss your lifestyle, preferred fit, intended use for the garment and personal style. For bespoke commissions, these measurements form the basis of an individual paper pattern created specifically for you. For made-to-measure garments, existing patterns are carefully adjusted using your measurements to achieve a personalised fit.
Step 3: Selecting Your Fabric & Design Details
With your measurements complete, we'll guide you through the choices that make your garment uniquely yours. Every recommendation is based on your individual requirements, helping you select options that suit both your style and the way you'll wear the finished piece.
You'll be introduced to premium cloth collections from respected mills including Holland & Sherry, Scabal and Dugdale Bros, before choosing design features such as lapels, linings, buttons, pockets, cuffs and other finishing details where applicable. Once these decisions have been finalised, work can begin on creating your garment.
Step 4: Crafting Your Garment
After your measurements, fabrics and design choices have been confirmed, your commission moves into production. The process used depends on whether you've chosen a bespoke or made-to-measure garment.
For bespoke tailoring, an individual hand-cut paper pattern is created specifically for you before construction begins. Made-to-measure garments are produced using carefully adjusted patterns based on your measurements. Bespoke suits typically take six to eight weeks to complete, allowing time for construction and the fitting stages that follow.
Step 5: Personal Fittings & Refinements
Fittings are an essential part of achieving the balance, comfort and precision that bespoke tailoring is known for. They allow us to review how your garment is developing and make refinements before it is completed.
